Your Festive Guide to Feeling Good This December

The festive season is full of magic, but also full of to-do lists, last-minute errands, late nights, and rich meals. It’s easy to prioritise everything except your own wellbeing. That’s why Active Luton is here to help you carve out moments of movement, relaxation and joy with our 12 Days of Wellness. Our 12 Days of Wellness is inspired by ‘The 5 Ways to Wellbeing’ framework which encourages building simple, positive habits that boost your mental health. These are:

1. Connect - invest in relationships with family, friends, colleagues or your community.

2. Be Active - engage in physical activities you enjoy, like walking, cycling or dancing.

3. Take Notice - be aware of your surroundings and inner thoughts, appreciate beauty, and live in the moment.

4. Keep Learning - try new things, pick up old interests, set small challenges or join courses to build confidence.

5. Give - do something kind for others, volunteer, or just offer your time, which helps you feel connected and purposeful

You don’t need to do all five every day but even starting with one or two regularly can make a real difference to your wellbeing. That’s why Active Luton are here to help this December with simple to try, family-friendly ideas designed to help you feel healthier and happier going into the new year… without waiting for January to start.

Day 1: Give the gift of fitness

Day 2: The December SwimTag Challenge - Christmas Island Beaches

Take part in our exciting festive SwimTag Challenge from 1 – 31st December 2025! You’ll tackle a virtual 10km swim across the beautiful beaches of Christmas Island, all from your local pool at Inspire, Lea Manor or Lewsey.

How it Works:

. Swim 3,136 metres per week to stay on track.

· Complete the challenge at your own pace.

· Compete individually and see where you place on the leaderboard.

· Stay motivated and win a prize!

Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or dipping your toes into something new, it’s a fun way to stay active this December. Ask at reception to find out more, or download the SwimTag app to get started.

Day 3: Try a Les Mills Virtual class at High Town

If you love flexibility, you’ll love Les Mills Virtual Classes at High Town. These high-quality,

cinematic fitness classes allow you to train at times that suit your schedule, from early morning to late evening. Try Body Combat, Body Pump, Body Balance and more - all included as a member perk with a Multi-Centre and High Town membership. It’s fitness on your terms. Day 4: Take time for you at our cafés

The holidays can be hectic, so why not pause for a peaceful moment? Our cafés at Inspire, Lewsey and Stockwood Park Golf Centre offer the perfect space to relax after a workout or simply to enjoy a cuppa with a friend. Choose from hot drinks, snacks, light bites and a warm, welcoming environment. Sometimes wellness is as simple as slowing down.

Day 5: Spotlight on swimming

We all know swimming is a fantastic full-body workout that’s gentle on the joints, but it is also scientifically proven to be beneficial for mental wellbeing too. Just 30 minutes in the water can reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and leave you feeling calmer and more energised – sounds like something we all need during the festive season! Visit our pools at Inspire, Lewsey or Lea Manor - each offering lane swimming, family sessions and general swim times.

Day 7: Discover your body’s story with InBody at Inspire

Curious about your muscle mass, body fat percentage or overall composition? Our InBody Composition Analysis machine gives you a detailed picture in minutes:

This is a fantastic way to track progress, set informed goals and personalise your fitness journey – just visit reception to book yourself in.

Day 8: Enjoy a FREE PT session with your membership

Every Active Luton member receives a FREE 30-minute Personal Training session as part of their “Member Success Package.”

It’s your chance to work one-on-one with a fitness professional who will help you:

· Set realistic, inspiring goals.

· Stay motivated.

· Build confidence in the gym.

· Keep yourself accountable.

It is a great way to get a head start before the new year rush.

Day 9: Parents - Enjoy some well-deserved “Me Time”

Children full of festive energy? We’ve got activities to keep them engaged, active and having fun, so, you can enjoy a well-earned break.

Day 10: Get moving with a gym-based class

Feeling the need for a boost? Our gym-based classes across High Town, Inspire, Lewsey and Lea Manor offer a supportive environment to increase strength, improve cardio fitness and have fun. From high-energy circuits to small-group training sessions, our instructors will guide you safely and motivate you every step of the way. Great for staying active during the colder months.

Day 11: Learn a new hobby - try Diving!

Day 12: Don’t wait for January - start now

Healthy routines don’t have to begin on 1st January. By starting small now - whether that’s a class, a swim, a walk or simply booking your first PT session, you’ll enter the new year feeling stronger and more balanced.
