This summer, young bookworms across Luton are invited to grow their imaginations in the Story Garden - the theme of this year’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge! It’s all about discovering brilliant books, getting stuck into free, fun activities at your local library and exploring how stories and the great outdoors come together in the most magical ways.
But here’s the twist - while reading is packed with benefits(in fact, the OECD says it’s the number one predictor of a child’s future success — even more than family background or income!), fewer kids are actually enjoying it. That’s where the Summer Reading Challenge steps in, to spark excitement, keep those reading muscles
strong over the holidays and make sure books stay front and centre this summer!
So, what’s the challenge?
It’s simple: read 6 books of your choice before 6th September. Each time you finish one, head back to your library to collect stickers and surprise rewards. Easy, fun, and totally FREE!
