Active Luton is required [by law] to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for; auditing, or administering public funds, or where undertaking a public function, in order to prevent and detect fraud.

The Cabinet Office is responsible for carrying out data matching exercises.

Data matching involves comparing computer records held by one body against other computer records held by the same or another body to see how far they match. This is usually personal information. Computerised data matching allows potentially fraudulent claims and payments to be identified. Where a match is found it indicates that there is an inconsistency which requires further investigation. No assumption can be made as to whether there is fraud, error or other explanation until an investigation is carried out.

Active Luton participates in the Cabinet Office’s National Fraud Initiative: a data matching exercise to assist in the prevention and detection of fraud. We are required to provide particular sets of data to the Minister for the Cabinet Office for matching for each exercise, as detailed here.

The use of data by the Cabinet Office in a data matching exercise is carried out with statutory authority under Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014. It does not require the consent of the individuals concerned under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Data matching by the Cabinet Office is subject to a Code of Practice.

VACANCIES


Coordinator - Maintenance Mates

  • 14 hours per week - £8.90 per hour
  • Mondays 8:00am - 12:00pm, Wednesdays 7:00am - 13:00pm (to allow for collection and delivery of mini bus back to Dell Farm) Fridays 8:00am - 13:00pm.

Undertake a variety of tasks to ensure that facilities are fit for purpose and comply with Health & Safety Regulations, coordinating the work of the active Luton ‘Maintenance Mates’ team.

Drive a 17 seater mini bus on prescribed routes being responsible for the safe transportation of Maintenance Mates’ team around Active Luton facilities.

You must:

  • have a full current driving licence (category D1 essential) and independent driving assessment
  • be over 25 years of age for insurance purposes
  • be able to transport people and equipment
  • be able to travel to sites within the Borough
  • be able to fit/move and handle, using lifting aids, if appropriate (after training) in line with Health & Safety regulations

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS clearance.

Full, Part-time & Casual Activity Lifeguard Assistant

Full  Part Time and casual positions available.  Competitive salary up to £15,807 per year working up to 37 hour week

You will be involved in promoting Active Luton’s recreation centres in a multicultural environment and helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the users of the centres. Your duties will include life guarding, erecting and dismantling sports equipment and ensuring the cleanliness of the centre and the safety of the general public following all relevant Active Luton policies and procedures.

You must have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification also preferably have experience of dealing with the public, ideally in a leisure environment.

Hours will be worked on a shift rota basis, which include evenings and weekends.
