The Mayor of Luton, Cllr Dave Taylor visited the children of Sacred Heart Primary School on Monday 16 May to thank them for supporting Dell Farm in response to the recent consultation on the future of the centre. Numerous letters, poems and drawings were sent by the pupils at the school expressing the reasons why Dell Farm should not close and what the centre means to them. Children from Sacred Heart Primary have been visiting Dell Farm for over twenty years.

A drive to increase the number of female lifeguards In Luton is well underway by Active Luton with 18 year old Nazia Qamar, a former Denbigh High School student, becoming the first from a new female-only lifeguard training programme to pass the (RLSS) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. Today, (Thursday 24 March) children at Norton Road Primary School learnt potentially lifesaving first aid skills taught by a specialist trainer from Active Luton.
The specially designed sessions educated students on recognising a medical emergency and how to keep the person safe until help arrives. They also learnt how to handle someone who is unconscious using the recovery position, as well as recognising and treating a bleed. Children were then encouraged to share what they learnt with family and friends to spread their lifesaving skills. While dealing with a very serious subject, the emphasis of the day was on having fun learning first aid and linking these skills to the rest of their learning in school including literacy, numeracy and of course science. Local charity Active Luton has made a special delivery of 206 Easter Eggs to the Luton Foodbank as a result of a recent promotion.
Since the start of the month all new members have had their Active Luton Profiles Health and Fitness membership start-up fee (usually £25) waived in return for donating an Easter egg to the Foodbank. Click here to read more.
