You have to believe in what you want to achieve
"At just 16 years old I’ve held The South of England, National and British Record for Under 17s Triple Jump Indoors record for 2 years. Although I started out in sprinting and long jump; with the encouragement of my coach, Craig Andrew, and my team mates, I’ve raised the bar to new heights.
I started sprinting at school sport events and county competitions here at Stockwood Park Athletics Centre, but with Craig’s support I realised how great I am at long jump and triple jump. I saw a couple of my team members doing triple jump and at that point I thought I want to try that. Craig encouraged me to go for it and dedicated his time to train me to get to the level that I needed to be to compete.
And…it was the right decision. All my dedication paid off when I successfully moved up to compete in the Under 20’s championships for triple jump - taking home 2nd place in the National Outdoor Championships and 1st place in The South of England Outdoor Championships. I knew going up against a higher age group meant fierce competition but I’d worked hard to get there. I was aware of the successes of those around me but also what I’d already achieved too. I shocked myself with how well I performed.
I have an unwavering commitment and love for athletics as a sport; I train hard and with thanks to the support of Craig I’m working towards my goals. My aim is to win all major championships this upcoming season. Eventually I want to represent team GB. I’m working on my technique in jumping, developing my sprinting and training in plyometrics.
My passion and belief in my goals are what drives me to achieve. I’m dedicated to my sport and working hard".
