A lot of people dream of what they want to be when they’re older; but none quite like Hannah Foster.
From the age of 5, Hannah watched her older brother train at Stockwood Park Athletics Centre.
“I’d be up at the track quite often watching my brother knowing that it was all I wanted to do. I guess, in a funny way, I can thank my brother for inspiring me to try sprinting.”
As soon as Hannah was able to, she started training at Stockwood Park Athletics Centre sprinting 300m and 400m competitively. Since then she has progressed to hurdles following the advice from her coach.
“Craig Andrew is a great coach. He has taken the time to get to know us all individually and understands our needs. He’s put so much effort into helping me get to where I am now.”
Hannah has now taken the last few seasons by storm and is now ranked 1st in the UK for the Under 17’s (400m & 300m). In July, all of Hannah’s hard work had been rewarded with the chance for her to compete for Great Britain at the European Youth Championships.
“I’ve been training and trying my hardest. Athletics is all that I know and my dream is to be known by others for something that I love.”
Hannah claims that the track makes her feel at home and she demonstrates a passion for training which has been shown through how quickly she has progressed in her athletic career.
It’s clear that having the drive and love for your talent can take you to places you’ve only ever dreamed but Hannah also has great support around her.
Hannah will now be competing in her 8th competitive season against a higher age group in the British Athletic Championships this year. She knows it’s a big jump but it’s clear to see her dream is what she’s following and we wish her all the best in her athletics career #HomeGrownStars #WatchThisSpace
