Active Luton is required [by law] to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for; auditing, or administering public funds, or where undertaking a public function, in order to prevent and detect fraud.

The Cabinet Office is responsible for carrying out data matching exercises.

Data matching involves comparing computer records held by one body against other computer records held by the same or another body to see how far they match. This is usually personal information. Computerised data matching allows potentially fraudulent claims and payments to be identified. Where a match is found it indicates that there is an inconsistency which requires further investigation. No assumption can be made as to whether there is fraud, error or other explanation until an investigation is carried out.

Active Luton participates in the Cabinet Office’s National Fraud Initiative: a data matching exercise to assist in the prevention and detection of fraud. We are required to provide particular sets of data to the Minister for the Cabinet Office for matching for each exercise, as detailed here.

The use of data by the Cabinet Office in a data matching exercise is carried out with statutory authority under Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014. It does not require the consent of the individuals concerned under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Data matching by the Cabinet Office is subject to a Code of Practice.

Diving Development Coach

£ 21,962 - £ 24,174 per annum 

Active Luton require a qualified Diving Development Coach to develop diving and other aquatic activity across Luton with a focus on the new 50m international pool incorporating 10m diving facility.

Your key role will be to establish and develop a successful ‘Learn to Dive’ programme, creating a sustainable pathway from learn to dive to competitive level.  You will also work with education colleagues to deliver a school based talent identification programme, providing access routes for potential divers of all abilities.

Applicants will have a proven track record in managing and developing activities, demonstrating the ability to work with Local, Regional and National sporting organisations and athletes.

The successful candidate will have an ASA UKCC Level 2 Award and be willing to work towards ASA UKCC Level 3, have experience of coaching divers to competition level and the ability/desire to undertake further diving training as well as obtaining gymnastics/trampoline qualifications within 6 months.

Resources Administration Assistant

37 Hours per week. £17,419 per annum

We are looking for an administration assistant to join our small, friendly team in providing an administration service for Active Luton.

Duties are wide and varied although the main tasks involve the monitoring of the recruitment process and processing documentation within defined procedures to ensure that staff employment is concluded in a timely manner. Other duties will include word-processing, data input, answering the telephone, logging post, and reception/customer liaison.

You will have demonstrable experience of office practices and recruitment processes and procedures and the ability to use word-processing and spreadsheet packages.

Multiskilled Tradesperson

37 Hours per week. £21,962 per annum.

You will be required to:

  • work under the direction of the Building Services Manager
  • work at sites undertaking ad hoc maintenance  whilst supervising other colleagues to ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
  • travel with tools and equipment to all of our sites, so a full driving license will be required.

 These tasks will be completed alongside the planned maintenance programme for Active Luton

  • Do you hold a City and Guilds qualification or a full apprenticeship in a recognised building trade, i.e. Electrician, Joiner, Plumber or considerable experience in one or all of these areas?
  • Do you have understanding of working with the legislation of the Building Trade e.g.; Health & Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR etc

To co-ordinate the Building and maintenance contracts of Building services to ensure that all contracts are being complied with and premises remain fit for use in compliance with health and safety.

Casual Activity Assistant

Full  Part Time and casual positions available.  Competitive salary up to £15,246 per year working a 37 hour week

You will be involved in promoting Active Luton’s recreation centres in a multicultural environment and helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the users of the centres. Your duties will include life guarding, erecting and dismantling sports equipment and ensuring the cleanliness of the centre and the safety of the general public following all relevant Active Luton policies and procedures.

You must have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification also preferably have experience of dealing with the public, ideally in a leisure environment.

Hours will be worked on a shift rota basis, which include evenings and weekends.
