Active Luton is required [by law] to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for; auditing, or administering public funds, or where undertaking a public function, in order to prevent and detect fraud.

The Cabinet Office is responsible for carrying out data matching exercises.

Data matching involves comparing computer records held by one body against other computer records held by the same or another body to see how far they match. This is usually personal information. Computerised data matching allows potentially fraudulent claims and payments to be identified. Where a match is found it indicates that there is an inconsistency which requires further investigation. No assumption can be made as to whether there is fraud, error or other explanation until an investigation is carried out.

Active Luton participates in the Cabinet Office’s National Fraud Initiative: a data matching exercise to assist in the prevention and detection of fraud. We are required to provide particular sets of data to the Minister for the Cabinet Office for matching for each exercise, as detailed here.

The use of data by the Cabinet Office in a data matching exercise is carried out with statutory authority under Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014. It does not require the consent of the individuals concerned under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Data matching by the Cabinet Office is subject to a Code of Practice.

Active Luton are currently seeking a qualified sports coach who specialises in Gymnastics, a qualification in trampolining would be desirable.

Applicants must have experience working with a wide range of people/children and preferably experience working in a leisure environment.

Training & Workforce Development Training Officer (NPLQ / FAAW)

We are looking for a dynamic and motived addition to our Team with appropriate qualifications, skills and experience to contribute to the development and delivery of a co – ordinated high quality Work Force Development Programme, incorporating professional staff development and training within Active Luton. 

You will be required to deliver high quality NPLQ and FAAW qualification courses and staff training support programme. Ensuring the maintenance of training record and audits together with other appropriate administrative tasks associated with the post, also supporting the Workforce Development Manager to maintain the accreditation and status. 

Experience of working within a leisure/customer orientated environment, organising and leading training activities both wet and dry sites is essential. 

Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in relation to Leisure Centre Operations is also required.

Casual Activity Assistant

L1B £7.66 per hour

You will be involved in promoting Active Luton’s Recreation Centres in a multicultural environment and helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the users of the Centres. Your duties will include life guarding, erecting and dismantling sports equipment and ensuring the cleanliness of the Centre and the safety of the general public following all relevant Active Luton’s policies and procedures.

You must have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification also preferably have experience of dealing with the public, ideally in a leisure environment.

Hours will be worked on a shift rota basis, which include evenings and weekends.

Health and Fitness Apprentice

Weekly wage: £150.00 

Weekly hours: 30 hours

The post holder will work closely with the Health and Wellbeing Manager and the Health and Wellbeing Team: promoting, coordinating, supporting delivery of and eventually leading on the many and varied health programmes taking place within Active Luton Centre’s and community settings. Programmes presently include Exercise Referral, Cardiac Rehab, Stroke Rehab, COPD and those diagnosed with Cancer.

The post holder will work in a busy environment under the direction of a supervisor. This will include:

  • Supporting and facilitating a range of  sport.
  • Physical activity and health and fitness sessions.
  • The post holder will contribute to the promotion and marketing of all activities within the facility and will work positively within Active Luton policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

There will be a need to work closely with the customer, requiring tact and courtesy in the provision of high quality customer relations. All facilities and activities will need to accord with regulations, health and safety procedures and Active Luton Policy.
