Active Luton is required [by law] to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for; auditing, or administering public funds, or where undertaking a public function, in order to prevent and detect fraud.

The Cabinet Office is responsible for carrying out data matching exercises.

Data matching involves comparing computer records held by one body against other computer records held by the same or another body to see how far they match. This is usually personal information. Computerised data matching allows potentially fraudulent claims and payments to be identified. Where a match is found it indicates that there is an inconsistency which requires further investigation. No assumption can be made as to whether there is fraud, error or other explanation until an investigation is carried out.

Active Luton participates in the Cabinet Office’s National Fraud Initiative: a data matching exercise to assist in the prevention and detection of fraud. We are required to provide particular sets of data to the Minister for the Cabinet Office for matching for each exercise, as detailed here.

The use of data by the Cabinet Office in a data matching exercise is carried out with statutory authority under Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014. It does not require the consent of the individuals concerned under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Data matching by the Cabinet Office is subject to a Code of Practice.

The day is varied including liaising with customers, setting up sessions, poolside duties and ensuring the operational requirements of the facility are met.

Building Services Officer

37 Hours per week

Salary £21,962 - £24,174

Active Luton is  a community funded charity operating a number of leisure sites in and around Luton.  The position of Building Services Officer is key in ensuring that the buildings, fixtures and fittings, plant and equipment, are operating efficiently and safely.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic person who holds a City and Guilds qualification or a full apprenticeship in a recognised building trade, i.e. Electrician, Joiner, Plumber or considerable experience in one or all of these areas.  An understanding of Health and Safety Legislation will also be required.

A small van is provided for the post holder to enable travel with tools and equipment to all of our sites. All bar one site is within Luton, the exception being Dell Farm in Whipsnade.

The post holder will be expected to assist their manager in the development and delivery of a planned programme of maintenance for the sites and to react to emergency jobs which crop up on a regular basis.   Small project work will be part of the ongoing programme to improve facilities for the public use.  .

HANDY PERSON

Full time & part time positions available.

£16,123 - £17,072 per annum (pro rata)

Active Luton is looking for enthusiastic people to work as part of its Building Services Team. 

Some understanding of health and safety is required along with an interest and aptitude for basic plumbing, painting & decorating, cleaning and other handy person skills.  A basic qualification in plumbing, carpentry or other associated trades would be an advantage but training will be given.  Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills are required. 

The post holder will have contact with the public and managers across the organisation and it is essential that they are able to deal politely and tactfully with all. 

All tools required will be supplied as will basic uniform.  Training will be provided in health and safety, first aid, COSHH, customer service and specific building trades.

The ability to transport equipment is essential for this role The majority of hours will be within the standard working day however you may be required to undertake opening and closing responsibilities, with occasional weekend working

BAR ASSISTANT - Stockwood Park Golf Centre

£7,66 - £8,03 per hour

Summer hours: March – October – 35 hours

Winter hours: October – March – 21 hours 

We require a Bar Assistant to work at Stockwood Park Golf Centre. You may also be required to work at our other facilities to cover absences and functions.

Some experience of bar work and a Food Hygiene Certificate is an advantage.
Duties include;

  • Opening and closing the bar
  • Selling beverages, bar food and catering sundries
  • Responsibility of all income received and balancing the daily takings
  • Ensuring the bar area is clean and tidy and equipment in working order
  • Maintenance of bar stock levels
  • Bar cellar work

Casual Activity Assistant

L1B £7.66 per hour

You will be involved in promoting Active Luton’s Recreation Centres in a multicultural environment and helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the users of the Centres. Your duties will include life guarding, erecting and dismantling sports equipment and ensuring the cleanliness of the Centre and the safety of the general public following all relevant Active Luton’s policies and procedures.

You must have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification also preferably have experience of dealing with the public, ideally in a leisure environment.

Hours will be worked on a shift rota basis, which include evenings and weekends.
