Active Luton is required [by law] to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for; auditing, or administering public funds, or where undertaking a public function, in order to prevent and detect fraud.

The Cabinet Office is responsible for carrying out data matching exercises.

Data matching involves comparing computer records held by one body against other computer records held by the same or another body to see how far they match. This is usually personal information. Computerised data matching allows potentially fraudulent claims and payments to be identified. Where a match is found it indicates that there is an inconsistency which requires further investigation. No assumption can be made as to whether there is fraud, error or other explanation until an investigation is carried out.

Active Luton participates in the Cabinet Office’s National Fraud Initiative: a data matching exercise to assist in the prevention and detection of fraud. We are required to provide particular sets of data to the Minister for the Cabinet Office for matching for each exercise, as detailed here.

The use of data by the Cabinet Office in a data matching exercise is carried out with statutory authority under Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014. It does not require the consent of the individuals concerned under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Data matching by the Cabinet Office is subject to a Code of Practice.

Team Leader Aquatics - Inspire: Luton Sports Village

£17,169 - £18,560 per annum

30 Hours per week (plus shift rota approx. 13%)

Including early, late and weekend shifts

This exciting multifaceted role means you will be leading and undertaking the administration of Active Luton’s Learn to Swim programme and the co-ordination of school swimming.

Your role will be to:

  • Ensure that teachers deliver to the standards set by the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming and complete the relevant assessments.
  • Plan all aquatic activities and ensure they are supported in line with the policy and procedures of Active Luton.
  • Be responsible for the development and improvement of the Aquatics programme, working with the Duty Manager to oversee recruitment and supervision of employees.
  • You will be responsible for customer care and ensuring all members of staff provide the highest quality standard of service throughout the facility.
  • Lead the marketing and promotion of the facility ensuring branding and profile are strong.

You must hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), ASA Swimming Teacher Level 2 or equivalent as well as a First Aid at Work qualification.

L1B £7.66 per hour

You will be involved in promoting Active Luton’s Recreation Centres in a multicultural environment and helping to ensure the safety and well being of the users of the Centres. Your duties will include life guarding, erecting and dismantling sports equipment and ensuring the cleanliness of the Centre and the safety of the general public following all relevant Active Luton’s policies and procedures.

You must have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification also preferably have experience of dealing with the public, ideally in a leisure environment.

Hours will be worked on a shift rota basis, which include evenings and weekends.
