Active Schools
The Active Schools Team provides support and guidance to schools, settings and individuals in relation to physcial activity, PE and school sport.
We work with early years providers and in partnership with the Early Years Development & Childcare Partnership (EYDCP), all Luton Schools and post-16 establishements to ensure all young people have the opportunity to participate in high quality physical activity, PE and school sport both within and beyond the curriculum as part of the Government's '5 hour' offer.
Key areas of work:
- Delivery of the national PE and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) across the town
- The School Sports Partnership
- The Playing for success initiative and centres
The team is headed up by Toni Chivers, Active Schools Manager and consists of Karen Abell and Leanne Chapman, Partnership Development Managers; Jenny Crisp, Early Years Physical Activity Co-ordinator; Andrew Ducat, Playing for Success Centre Manager and Caroline Parcell, Admin Officer. In addition there is a team of 8 highly experienced School Sports co-ordinators.
