National CPD Programme
The Active Schools Team in partnership with Central Bedford and Bedford Borough, provides a number of CPD & training opportunities for teachers, teaching assistants and adults other than teachers who work with Children, as part of the National Continuing professional development Programme which is one of the strands of the National Physical Education & School Sport for Young People Strategy (PESSYP - formally known as PESSCL).
PESSYP was launched in January 2008 to ensure that by 2010 all children will be offered at least 5 hours of sport every week, which will comprise of at least 2 hours of high quality PE and Sport at school and in addition, the opportunity for at least a further 3 hours beyond the school day (delivered by a range of school, community and club providers). Collectively this is referred to as the "Five Hour Offer". This target reflects the potential that high quality PE and School Sport has for making a difference to young people and whole school improvement.
Additional CPD opportunities are also provided by Teambedsandluton
