Schools Swimming
Swimming is part of the National Curriculum in Physical Education and is a compulsory part of Key Stage 2 and an optional programme for pupils in Key Stage 1.
Based upon curriculum guidance the recommendation is that pupils gain access to 18 hours of swimming instruction across Key Stage 2.
Schools are responsible for ensuring adequate swimming time and the programmes are delivered at the 4 Hydra pools in Luton by Active Luton's qualified schools swim teachers.
The curriculum requirement is based around basic water safety and pupils are expected to achieve a minimum 25 metres distance.
The programme does provide a basic level of competence, but if you want to progress, then why not enrol in the Hydra Learn to Swim programme.
