The Athletics centre is set in a natural bowl within acres of beautiful parkland and has recently been chosen as a potential olympic training venue for competing teams. It holds a full competitions licence from UK Athletics meaning it is suitable for training and competitions under UKA rules. It is the home of Luton Athletics Club as well as the Luton Town Belles ladies football team. The 8 lane 400 metre track is complemented by high jump, long-jump and other field event facilities, has a seated spectators area, weights room and viewing balcony area.

The centre hosts a number of scheduled competitions and is the venue for local schools finals as well as clubs and organisations in the area. The summer Star:Track holiday programmes have received national publicity and are very well attended. Fitness classes such as the very popular Fit 2 Push for mother and baby are also available.
