Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work Course (QCF)
An introductory level qualification developed to assist anyone with the responsibility for emergency first aid within the workplace. This course is aimed at staff with a duty of care who do not require a full Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work.
This course has been approved by Ofqual as complying with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

To equip candidates with the skills and knowledge to undertake basic first aid and emergency action until further qualified medical assistance is available.
Candidates are required to undertake a minimum of 6 contact hours training which will be delivered in a variety of formats
Who should do the course
Anyone who requires an approved qualification in basic first aid delivered by an Approved Provider, or wishes to expand on the skills they have already attained.
Ongoing assessment throughout the course to include:
Demonstration of basic life support skills (adult)
Demonstration of the ability to control bleeding
Treatment of specific medical conditions and injuries
Oral questioning testing of underpinning knowledge
Theory to include
The aims of First Aid and the Role of the First Aider
Action in an Emergency situation
Record Keeping and First Aid Boxes
Recognition and treatment of miscellaneous medical conditions
Recognition and treatment of specific injuries
Recognition and treatment of shock
Practical to include
Management of an Unconscious Casualty
Basic Life Support - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Control of Bleeding - including basic bandaging techniques
Management of choking
As a professionally approved and accredited qualification, requiring the support of risk assessments, safe systems of work documents and insurance this qualification is officially for the 'workplace' and therefore candidates will need to be of working age. Where those of 'pre-workforce age' require a suitable qualification then a community qualification will be more appropriate
Candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the commencement of the course
Must be able to undertake practical activity involving kneeling and laying down
All Active Luton courses are delivered and assessed in English. Tutors must be convinced that you have sufficient fluency in written and spoken English to cope with your course from the start.

The HSE recommend that all First Aiders attend annual refresher training to help reduce the impact of 'first aid skills fade’.
