An Active Education Free School designed to:
 
“ Inspire, Empower, Achieve”

Discussions with local Biscot residents highlighted the following priorities for Primary School education:

• A strong emphasis on the teaching of values.
• Provision of wrap-around care including breakfast clubs and after school activities.
• An opportunity for parents to have a say in and an influence on what the school is offering.
• The need for good quality sport and education facilities, which are also available for use by the wider community.

Our proposal:

To set up an outstanding primary school in the Biscot Ward. Our current preferred location is the swimming pool site on Bath Road.

Our school will:

• Offer a broad balanced curriculum, with a strong emphasis on physical activity, health and well-being.
• Offer a curriculum that is based on the most recent and relevant research relating to primary education.
• Build on the most effective features of high quality Early Years learning and provide children with the core skills needed to unlock their potential.
• Recognise that English and Maths are fundamental to success and underpin the learning, understanding and application of skills and knowledge in other curriculum subjects, so empowering children in their learning.
• Provide a curriculum that is motivational, inspirational and enjoyable, relating to the needs and interests of the children.
• Provide the pupils with the knowledge, skills and understanding that they require, to secure both educational and personal achievement.
• Improve the life chances and raise the aspirations of the pupils, through the setting of high expectations, putting learning into a context that is meaningful and enjoyable.
• Address the need for additional primary school places within the Biscot Ward.

Physical activity, health and well-being will be placed at the heart of the school and the wider community. We will use these as the tools to create high academic standards and address the wider issues of behaviour, confidence and self-esteem.

Staff, pupils, parents and the wider community will be consulted to ensure that our school meets the needs of the pupils, irrespective of ability, gender, ethnicity, social and cultural backgrounds.

Our school will be placed at the heart of the community to ensure that it becomes a hub of activity for all.
